The Nigerian Journal of Social Health is a biannual, blind peer-reviewed online publication resident in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, Nigeria. It receives papers for consideration throughout the year. The next edition, volume 2 (3) (December, 2025) seeks to publish both original empirical or theoretical articles addressing wide-ranging academic and policy issues relevant to, but not limited to the fields of Sociology, Medical Anthropology, Health Finance, Public Health, Sexuality, Reproductive Health Behaviour, Demography, Psychology, Health Economics, Population Health, Social Studies, Peace & Conflict Studies, Medical & Population Geography, Political Economy of Health, Health Administration, Nursing, Health Communication, Treatment and Rehabilitation, Health Education, Health Crime & Law, Social Epidemiology, Food Science and other related fields focusing on a socially healthy society.

The Nigerian Journal of Social Health now features Digital Object Identifier (DOI), WorldCat and CrossRef Content Registration Indexing that enhance global web visibility of authors and their publications

Guidelines for Authors

  1. Articles must be written in English, typed double-spaced and one-sided on A4 paper with left and right margins of 1.5 inches.
  2. The maximum length of manuscript should be 16 pages (12-point size, Times New Roman font type) inclusive of references, tables and figures.
  3. All spellings and punctuations should be in line with the Oxford English Dictionary.
  4. The referencing style should conform to the 7th edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) format.
  5. A cover page, detailing the title of the paper, full name(s) of author(s), institutional affiliations, telephone number(s) with international code(s) and the postal and emails addresses of the author(s), should accompany the manuscript.
  6. Manuscripts must contain an abstract of not more than 250 words, which should encompass, in a nutshell, the article's background statement, major objectives, methodology, findings and recommendations, unambiguously stated.
  7. Key words up to five, in alphabetical order, separated by semicolon, should be provided beneath the abstract on a separate line.
  8. The text pages should comprise the following sections: Abstract, Introduction, Research Questions, Research Objectives, Research Hypothesis (if applicable) Theoretical Framework (where applicable), Methodology, Results, Discussions, Conclusion, Recommendations and References for empirical papers while the arrangement of theoretical papers, at the discretion of the authors, must have precise and unambiguous titles and sub-titles.
  9. All articles are submitted on the understanding that they have not been submitted for publication, or published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Submission of Papers

Articles must be sent with a non-refundable assessment fee of N5000, while a publication fee of N32,500 shall be paid upon acceptance to the following account Banker: STANBIC IBTC Bank PLC, Account No: 0055683686.   1. Foreign Authors will be required to pay a sum of USD125(assessment & Publication fees) after assessment and acceptance of article for publication.  
  2. All manuscripts should be submitted electronically in MS Word format as attachment to: njsocialhealth@gmail.com & frtinuola@fugusau.edu.ng OR preferably through a submission process on the Journal’s Website

 

The peer review process of a paper will be done within a maximum period of (3) weeks by our team of editors and decision of acceptance of rejection of papers communicated.
